What's the Difference?!

A lot of people ask whats the difference between INDIAN, BRAZILIAN, & MALAYSIAN hair??? Today HTBD is hear to answer your questions! Buying hair is a big deal for some; especially ladies who are new to wearing weave. When spending your hard earned money you want to be sure that you are buying what you want, what you need, & what you can maintain! Its also good to know the difference in these hairs before buying & for self education!

INDIAN HAIR:  Women in Indian shave their heads and donate their hair as apart of Hinduism which is one of the largest religions practiced in Indian. When people in Indian donate their hair its considered a sacrifice for God. Indian Hair texture is very natural feeling; it is HUMAN hair so with it installed it should be taken care of in that manor. Anytime you make changes with your Indian and other virgin hair extensions, ask yourself would you do that to your real hair. Indian hair is also more versatile, with wavy & curly hair it can also be straightened. Good Indian hair doesn't shed excessively or loose its bounce after wearing.

BRAZILIAN HAIR: Brazilian hair is from Brazil; women in Brazil take pride in their hair and consider it a sign of grand beauty. Brazilian hair is donated but not as often as Indian hair, for that reason Brazilian hair is more expensive than Indian hair. Its always good to consider your hair as an investment; with proper care good virgin hairs can be worn 6 months to a year. Brazilian hair also has natural body to it which makes it more manageable. Brazilian hair can be worn, straight, wavy, & curly like Indian hair. Closely compared to African American hair, Virgin Brazilian hair is a good suggestion when you make your investment.

MALAYSIAN HAIR: Malaysian hair is one of the highest grades of hair. Malaysian hair is more finer and silkier than Brazilian & Indian hair. Sheds way less than all other exotic hairs and when flat ironed gets bone straight. Malaysian hair does come wavy & curly but the straight hair seems to be more popular. This type of hair is a little bit more heavier than Indian hair it also holds curls longer which is great for people who don't have a lot of time or unsure of how to do their own hair. Opposite of Brazilian hair, Malaysian hair is compared with African American relaxed hair.

***Now that you have a better understanding on virgin hair, it should make your next hair buying experience better. All these hairs are beautiful in their own way and all make good choices when buying. Its also good to switch it up and try all types so you can be the judge, hair is about YOUR preference and self expression! I love Indian hair but Brazilian Wavy is my favorite!***

Fall Hair Trends 2011 (HTBD Style)

Fall is officially here! I talk often about switching up your look! Posted below are sone great ideas for your hair and whats trending this season!

LONG PLAIT: wearing a long plait is very convenient. It can be worn to give a vintage/rugged look or a classic red carpet look! These photos shows how one style can be worn 3 different ways.

SHORT BOB: Bob's are fun, short, and straight to the point! Wearing a Bob is also easy to manage! Wavy hair bob oppose to a straight bob is more exciting and different! (wavy bob, straight bangs)

DEEP SIDE PART: a deep side part can make the average hairstyle look edgier! Tamed & Untamed!

SHORT CUTS: Short cuts have been popping since forever now! But this season certain styles are IN! Short styles work on some people but not all! Before going short you should consider the $ aspect and the up keep. Also discuss with your stylist what the best look is for you when going short or shorter! Remember once you cut your hair its GONE; yes hair grows back but be mentally ready for the change!

TAE HECKARD: Tae "lil tae tae" Heckard is from BET's "The Game" I die over her & her style! Shes not afraid to wear her hair different and how she feels! Shes known for the signature Ninja Bun and was recently spotted rocking the "Poetic Justice" braids.

Now you have HAIR to be Different LLC Fall Hairstyles of 2011!! Most styles can be worn with HTBD Hair installed properly! Non wearing weave girls can rock these styles too! Make whatever look you rock your own! Hair is the most beautiful ornament of a woman.

Hait Battle Spectacular! Season 2 Episode 2

On episode 2 of Hair Battle Spectacular, the contestants had to create "Black & White Hair with Extravagant Lashes" Black & White is so classic and can be either really hard to work with or really easy. The disadvantage on only being able to use 2 colors can be a downer, but also motivates you to be more creative! That is what the show is all about creativity! The contestants showed out and here are some of my favorites!

Week two's guest judge was Shauna Boss from OK Magazine, winner of the Glam Slam challenge will have a photo shoot with Shauna for OK Magazine!

Stylist: Atomic  His look was very dramatic and over the top...literally!

Stylist: Queen B Queen B definitely can work magic with her fingers and this pic proves that! Coolest checkerboard ever!!

Camouflage look was very unique and neat! The braid was done well and the bangs were cut to perfection!

J9 won the judges over with her "Top Hat" Black & White Victorian look! Up close and personal look too!

At the end of the challenge J9 took home the prize and will be featured in OK Magazine!! Congrats to J9!

Check out some other contestants creations from that night!

Stylist: Nostradamus

Stylist: Bossa Nova kind of a repeat from week 1(photo in previous blog)

Stylist: Mz. H2O up close & personal

Hair Battle Spectacular!

Hair Battle Spectacular Season 2 premiered 2 Mondays ago and so far I am impressed! For those not familiar Hair Battle Spectacular is a reality show where 11 of America's hottest stylists compete against each other to see who can deliver the biggest and best in fantasy hair design and win $100,000!!! Shows top judge is Derek J celebrity stylist based in Atlanta, GA.

Exciting right? So last week the contestant had to create a fantasy hairstyle that was inspired by a celebrity! The stylists showed out and here a some of my faves...

Queen B's design was inspired by the great Beyonce! Hairstyle was the numerical 4 representing Beyonce's new album titled 4! Even though Queen B's creation almost took a tumble that night she made it to the winners circle...talent is talent!

Another stylist I liked was Nostradamus and his Lady Gaga inspired creation! This look was very dramatic and the piano made out of hair topped it off!

My last but NOT least favorite look was created by Blondie! Blondie "honored" Nicki Minaj! Her design was very creative and different which is probably why she won the first challenge of the season!

Photo speaks for itself! Check that out!!!!

This season Hair Battle Spectacular has some awesome talented stylist! HTBD will be tuned in every Monday night on Oxygen at 10pm and will recap here weekly! Check out pics below of the other contestants designs!

Stylist: Mz. H2O Inspiration: Will Smith (Fresh Prince of Bel Air)

Stylist: Atomic Inspiration: Lindsay Lohan (turn tables for Samantha Ronsosn)

 Stylist: Dimples Inspiration: Christina Aguilera

Stylist: Bossa Nova  Inspiration: Demi Moore
