In the Virgin Hair world there is a lot to know before purchasing. There are so many hair types to choose from, textures, origin, color, patter, human, synthetic, the list goes on! This post will focus on the difference in Remi with an I and Remy with an Y. These are important factors when your looking to purchase Virgin Human hair. Remi and Remy hair can make all the difference in your virgin hair experience!
Lets start with REMI hair...
REMI with an I can be considered brand of low quality hair. It is usually available at most beauty supply stores. In general it has been colored (#1, #2, #4 etc) or chemically treated including perming, texturing (Yaki), highlighting etc. It has already been dyed so it will not color well. In my opinion buying REMI hair is a preference, this information is just helpful when buying hair. If you want long lasting, quality, 100% human hair then you want to purchase Virgin REMY cuticle hair.
REMY (cuticle hair) is hair that has been cut off the donors head in the same direction. Remy Hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped. This method creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance, soft, and silky. Remy hair is also known to have minimal shedding and tangling.
NON-REMY (non-cuticle hair) this type of hair is collected during the wefting process; for example from the floor of the temple and mixed with different lengths and lusters from different donors. Due to the collection method of the hair, it then undergoes a rigorous process to remove the cuticle, but over time and wear the hair can become dull and brittle. Non-Remy hair cuticles are not aligned in the same direction; this process causes tangling and matting very easily. This type of hair is not recommended for any long-term hair extensions for the obvious reasons of tangling. Non-Remy hair can still be considered virgin hair it just may not last as long.
**Just so you know**
Remy hair is not necessarily VIRGIN hair, since it may be colored or permed. Its defining features are an intact cuticle and the manner in which it was harvested. VIRGIN hair is hair that has not been processed, permed, dyed, colored, bleached, chemically processed in any way. Virgin hair CAN be colored/bleached and is likely to have a few strands of gray or white hair since it is in its natural color and has not been dyed. These are natural characteristics of 100% virgin hair. It usually comes in a color range around #1b to #1 a natural dark brown to black.
HAIR to be Different Virgin hair is high quality Remy Human Hair, all hair has been carefully sorted after collecting from the hair donor to ensure all the cuticles are of the same length. After extensive research, examination, and testing HTBD has sought out the best in 100% Virgin Remy human hair!
